Emma Barbernell is a freelance photographer and multidisciplinary creative based in California. She just graduated from San Clemente High School and will be moving to New York City this fall to begin her undergraduate studies at Pace University.

Emma’s work spans intimate portraiture—capturing families, seniors, and couples with an honest, documentary-style approach—to creative direction and visual storytelling. She serves as the media lead for Motel Mini Market, a locally-loved vintage market in San Clemente, and is part of the social media team behind Girlxfriend LA, a women-owned and run tattoo shop in Los Angeles, creating content for both the Instagram and TikTok.

She was also the still photographer for Sanctuary, a New York City-based documentary directed by Autumn McAlpin that explores the intersection of queerness and inclusivity within spiritual spaces.
